Ali Oldroyd is back at The Brasserie — and if you were here for his debut back in April, you already know why we had to bring him back. Guitar, voice, and a loop pedal — Ali builds every track live from the ground up. One riff layered over another, vocals stacked in real time, until a single guitar becomes a full room of sound. It's one of those performances where you watch the whole thing being constructed in front of you. His range runs from Stone Roses to Amy Winehouse, Lou Reed to Fontaines DC, and originals cut from the same cloth. It's the kind of set that suits a Sunday evening by the river perfectly. Some Sundays are for doing very little, very well. This is one of them. Ali plays the Brasserie this Sunday, live music in the old mill, right on the banks of the Derwent. Early evening, no ticket, walk-ins welcome. Come down, grab a drink, and let the river do the rest. The music's free. If you'd like to eat, book a table — riverside Sundays go quickly. Derby/Burton-based musician Ali Oldroyd performs solo with guitar, voice, and a loop pedal — building every track live from the ground up. One riff layered over another, vocals stacked in real time, until a single guitar becomes a full room of sound. His range runs from Stone Roses to Amy Winehouse, Lou Reed to Fontaines DC, alongside originals cut from the same cloth.
Errol Cole was epic last time — and we knew we had to bring him back. If you were here in May, you already know what happens when Errol takes the floor. The room shifts. People stop mid-conversation. By the third song the whole place is moving. That's what happens when a two-decade soul veteran decides to treat a Sunday like it's a Saturday night. His set draws from the golden era of soul: Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Al Green, Bill Withers — delivered with a voice and stage presence that gets people out of their seats before they've finished their drinks. It's not background music and it's not polite dinner jazz. It's full-energy Motown and northern soul in a 200-year-old mill by the river, and it works perfectly. Errol is a Derby soul man through and through. He's been singing across this city for over two decades, and he brings the same energy to every single room — whether it's ten people or two hundred. Music from 5:00 PM. Full Brasserie menu served all evening, with Birra Moretti and Beavertown Neck Oil on draft. No tickets. No cover charge. Just book your table and enjoy the evening.
Errol Cole is a Derby-based soul vocalist, producer and recording artist. With over twenty years on the local live circuit and four studio releases to his name, Errol is one of the most experienced and recognisable voices in Derbyshire's music scene. His sets span Motown, northern soul and classic funk — always delivered with full energy and a voice built for the stage.
